What changed?
The September 9 government release says the endorsement was announced at the September 1–2 G20 Innovation Ministerial in North Carolina. India’s Department of Telecommunications will coordinate follow-up with government, industry and academia.
What should you keep in mind?
The initiative includes cooperation on research, supply chains and standards. It preserves each government’s independent position and does not replace industry-led technical standardisation. It is not an announcement of commercial 6G service availability.
